Kenton Black are delighted to be working with a high growth accountancy firm in the Stockport area currently looking for an Associate Director to join their existing team.
As Associate Director, you will work closely with the management team, ensuring best practice is adopted across the firm. You will be excited by the opportunity not only to shape and grow the business, but to adopt and embed new technologies, systems and processes to streamline the organisation and free up the team’s time to concentrate on higher value services.

THE ROLE OF ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Not for the fainthearted, to fit in with the team, you need to be a master multi tasker, capable of managing multiple deadlines and priorities. They all work together to keep one another learning and growing, and their clients informed.
As an Associate Director you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of SME owner managed business clients, and overseeing the day to day client management as well as any bookkeeping, compliance and advisory activities for these clients.
You will be confident in your preparation of year end accounts and corporation tax returns, and in your client communication (both external and internal), and a lover of all things cloud accounting.
Speaking of cloud, as a Xero Gold Champion Partner, a solid foundation in the software is a must, although they do have clients using all sorts of other platforms – they adapt to their needs, providing they’re sensible.
You will be ACA/ ACCA Qualified, or Qualified by Experience, with a minimum of 6-10 years’ experience in a quality practice, strong tax knowledge and commercial experience.
Your commercial approach and advisory experience will stand you in good stead, helping their clients succeed, and spotting opportunities to help them grow and vice versa.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountability for a portfolio of circa £500k recurring business
- Reviewing BK, VAT, Year-End Work
- Managing and running client meetings
- Running and managing client remuneration and tax planning opportunities
- Delivering advisory services to clients as required
- Support the Digital Solutions and MD Team to drive through new systems, software and processes
- Upsell bookkeeping and advisory to clients and upskill the team to do the same
- Introduction and implementation of appropriate software to enhance their service and offer:
- Management and development of key individuals
- New Business Winning – converting leads to clients
- Networking to generate new business opportunities
