Who we're looking for
We are looking for an Associate Business Analyst within our Digital Reporting team, which is part of Operations Technology.
Associate Business Analyst is the entry level role within the Analysis and Design Family. You will be able to demonstrate a proficiency for core analysis, documentation standards and work as part of a team with suitable support and guidance.
Associate Business Analysts are core members of the team and wider Technology domain. You will be responsible for contributing to and delivering all aspects of analysis in relation to on-going change across the Technology Platform.
You will be naturally inquisitive and logical whilst demonstrating the ability to work with (and understand the demands of) various business and technology stakeholders.
You will be keen to learn and develop your tool kit, share new ideas and question the what, how and why things are done.
Analysis & Design Role Family
The Analysis & Design family covers a diverse range of GT roles with analysis and design at their core. This includes but is not limited to disciplines such as Data, Business Analysis, UX and QA.

The Global Operations Technology function supports a number of business domains including; traditional Operations (back office), Investment Services (middle office), Product, Fund Operations, Client Reporting, Fund Data and Digital content.
The Technology team works very closely with the Investment Services and Product business domains to create a Technology platform with an emphasis on a stable operating environment that can function at multiple speeds and levels of scale. Our primary goal is to deliver value through Technology domain expertise and robust solutions to our customers.
The teams operate under an agile operating model facing off to defined capabilities within our business.
We have implemented the Aladdin platform that covers a number of our more traditional Investment processes and provides full support for the trade lifecycle. Typically the solutions provided in this group are complimentary to Aladdin and also involve maintaining the APIs with Aladdin.
We also recognise that successfully balancing personal and professional commitments brings out the best in our teams and therefore all roles in Global Technology are reviewed for suitability for flexible working arrangements. At present with this specific opportunity it is expected to require 5 working days per week. What you'll do
- Working within our technology delivery team, you'll partner with our Product Owner(s) to understand opportunities, risks and value-add changes to our application estate, leading to the design and build of appealing, intuitive and insightful technology products for our Business.
- Interact directly with business users to identify their needs, actively participate in business process design and changes, gather business requirements, and translate those requirements into functional solutions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure that features and stories, to be delivered, are suitably well defined and structured; as well as to effectively deliver working data solutions that are fit for purpose.
- Deliver change to our reporting capabilities
- Be accountable for ensuring committed analysis and solution design objectives are met within agreed timelines with stakeholders
- Partner with our Product Owner(s) to iteratively deliver business value and outcomes through the use of agile methodologies, with a strong use of well defined and structured Epics, Features and Stories
- Develop a deep understanding of the business processes and teams to support continued value delivery
- Participate enthusiastically and effectively in Agile events
- Encourage innovation, ensuring appropriate design principles are embraced, and the similarly appropriate engineering practices and methodologies are adopted.

The knowledge and experience you need
- Knowledge and experience of using business analysis techniques and methodologies
- Proficient in SQL and basic training in Data Engineering methodologies and toolsets
- An understanding of data structures and common data transformation methodologies
- An understanding of the software delivery lifecycle
- Ability to work in a modern software engineering environment using Agile and DevOps methodologies, and an understanding of automated CI/CD pipelines
- Testing experience, with a shift-left mentality
- Experience of working with global colleagues and stakeholders and sensitivity to cultural differences and time zones.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
- Experience of Tableau, Postman, PowerBI toolsets
- Experience of data virtualisation, warehouse tools (Denodo / Snowflake)
- Experience working in Financial Services, preferably Asset Management.
