Job description
Research Senior Associate to join a research team in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of Arts and Sciences, and perform research in modern RNA and protein biochemistry. Specifically, the researcher will be involved in experiments that seek to (i) optimize recombinant protein overexpression and purification, (ii) use single-molecule fluorescence approaches to study the assembly of multi-subunit ribonucleoprotein complexes, and (iii) employ optical traps for determining the conformational ensemble of RNAs. The duties include designing and developing new experimental approaches, analyzing research results, preparing manuscripts for publication, interfacing with external collaborators, and managing collaborative projects. Other responsibilities include working closely with PI and research group, assisting with the writing of proposals for external funding, and supervising both graduate and undergraduate students.
Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience required.
Desired: PhD in Biochemistry with a scholarly publication record in enzymology and recombinant DNA methods. Ability to design and trouble shoot experiments and to communicate effectively in oral and written forms absolutely critical. 5 years of post-doctoral research experience desired.
The pay range for this job profile is $53,800-$71,700 annually. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
