You are an experienced and driven Manager or Supervisor who can support the leadership our award winning Waste Collections team in to the future. You will bring your experience of supervising or managing within a waste collections services either within the public or private sectors to this large team of staff who give their best every day for the residents of Swindon.
Your knowledge of waste operations, supervision, customer services, safe working practices, and excellent people management makes you our ideal candidate.
Your next role
2023 will be the most important year in recent memory for waste services in Swindon. As part of a newly formed End to End Waste Service you will be absolutely crucial to the successful delivery of our ambitions. You will join the service just as our Recycling Collections Upgrade project moves in to full flight. A new service model will be implemented in Autumn 2023 and you will be vital to the transition from our current kerbside collections process to our new one. With 40 brand new waste vehicles arriving in Summer/Autumn 2023, the team will be the proud custodians of this major council investment and charged with ensuring it is used to maximum effect for our residents. You will be responsible for supporting the Waste Collections Operations Manager to build and implement our new service and making sure that it is a success for our residents. You will be a key part of the Waste Collections team with a brilliant group of staff reporting in to you. You will have an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and engaged peer group who will support you every step of the way.
You will support the oversight of a team of over 120 staff based out of the council’s depot at Waterside Park, Swindon. You will use your experience and people management skills to ensure that our in house waste collections service is run smoothly and efficiently with a focus on customer service, performance management and staff leadership.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
