We are looking for a bright and motivated Underwriting Assistant to join Magenta Insurance (a Howden Company) at our office in Bury St Edmunds.
This role is ideal for someone with previous experience providing specialist advice in the insurance market. This role will see you ensure accurate underwriting data is captured on systems to minimize risk and ensure high quality output of information, support underwriting through general administration to ensure delivery of a professional service and develop your technical and underwriting knowledge to take on more complex cases over time

Role Responsibilities:
- Assisting Underwriters in recording risk details on source systems; building broker relationships as required; developing knowledge of the class of business and the accounts written; retrieving data for Underwriters as requested
- Dealing with any incoming quotation enquiries both with clients and brokers ensuring we are underwriting commercially to secure the sale.
- Maintain underwriting documentation/files; keeping all documentation in order
- Assist underwriters by communicating with brokers.
- Request underwriting information from brokers.
- Process new business including some data entry into system, population of relevant systems, and incepting cover
- Develop underwriting knowledge to gain sign off across our suite of products and with all insurers.
- Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
Skills and experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience in providing insurance advice.
- Experience working with an underwriting environment would be beneficial
- Good understanding of Property Insurance
- Minimum 1 year experience of telephone based work
- Excellent client service skills.
- Have a willing to learn
- Cert CII qualification (or willing to undertake the study).
- Exposure to using Acturis would be an advantage for this role
- Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to process work quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
