Assistant Speech & Language Therapist supporting the Community Adult Mental Health (AMH) Autism Support project to offer training, consultation and SLT support to clients across Nottingham City and County

The successful candidate will join a small, innovative SLT Team which is affiliated with the well-established and respected Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. The post holder will be working on a day-to-day basis across community AMH services
The successful candidate will be well supported by senior colleagues, with opportunities for peer support. The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines.

This role is situated within the Specialist Services Directorate. The role requires a motivation to support Autistic adults with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) and Mental health conditions. We aim to provide an efficient and effective Speech and Language Therapy service within the community.
You will:
- be required to have a relevant qualification at equivalent level of NVQ level 3.
- need to demonstrate an ability to work flexibly, be motivated, show initiative, work as part of a team under the direction of the Speech & Language Therapy team based in the project.
- The Speech & Language Therapy Assistant post supports the work with clients as well as supporting the wider project, playing a key role in developing adapted resources and modelling communication strategies.
- Need to possess well developed IT skills
- Need to be motivated to work flexibly and innovatively with Autistic adults who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

You will be working closely with the Speech & Language Therapists in the team to plan and undertake consultations, offer training and awareness raising around communication strategies that will facilitate access to services and where appropriate support with direct clinical work.
You will be involved in developing accessible information that enables the Autistic adults to access Community Mental Health services as well as support staff to make reasonable adjustments to their communication during the individual’s care.
You will also be supporting the MDT with accessible information and be involved in administrative duties related to your specific work.
You will be involved in modelling ‘good communication practice’ and how to make health care accessible.
