You’ll need to be flexible with your working times and available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and during busy holiday periods.
As assistant floor manager, you’ll:
- have excellent interpersonal skills, and a warm and engaging personality
- need great organisational skills, natural leadership qualities with the ability to delegate
- have a strong eye for cleanliness, detail and presentation, and a wish to present the venue at its best
- have a flexible and hands-on approach to work, and be competent in running restaurant floor service
- be empathetic and understanding in nature in order to support and guide team members and provide a service you’d like to receive
- have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, be able to problem solve and think on your feet, and deal effectively with guest feedback and complaints

First and foremost, helping to run great shifts on the floor and giving our guests a great experience will be your primary responsibility.
In addition, you will assist the manager in day to day operational aspects of the restaurant including overseeing staff, staff training, stock management, cash management and health and safety. Within your day to day role, you will:
- Assist the manager in leading, motivating and engaging staff, delegating tasks to suit the shift’s needs
- Lead by example to champion Mango’s high standard, ensuring an excellent level of customer service from both you and the team, and creating & maintaining a feel-good, energetic atmosphere in the restaurant
- Assist the manager in ensuring staff hours are kept within targets, adapting staff hours on shift to reduce labour costs, filling in for absent employees and assisting the team as necessary to ensure smooth service
- Assist the manager in maintaining stock levels, receiving & checking deliveries as they come in, rotating stock, and practising good cellar management
- Assist the manager in responding to customer bookings and queries, organising reservations, table plans & parties, ensuring everything needed is prepared and organised ahead of time according to upcoming bookings
- Ensure the venue is always clean, organised and presentable, and cleaning, opening & closing checklists are followed and maintained
- Assist in preparing cash drawers and petty cash, and be responsible for daily cash ups
- Assist the manager to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry guidelines, and maintain a safe working environment
- Help to co-ordinate daily operations to work in synchrony with the kitchen team
- Work with senior managers to drive sales and accomplish business objectives
