An opportunity has arisen to be part of an innovative Women’s Health Psychology project within the Clinical Health Psychology Service which will provide psychological care and treatment for women with various health conditions, including Endometriosis, Chronic Pelvic Pain, and difficult Menopause symptoms.
As an Assistant Psychologist, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the development and delivery of the service, providing individual and group interventions with a blend of remote and face to face work. The project is funded by primary care and the role will involve close working with GP practices alongside pelvic health professionals.
The successful applicant requires to be passionate about working with women to help them manage their health conditions and improve their psychological wellbeing. The role will involve psychological assessment, development of psychological formulation and provision of psychological interventions. As an assistant, there will be opportunities to develop psychological therapy skills and support the delivery of evidence-based group interventions. Supporting women with pelvic health conditions can at times be challenging, therefore the successful applicant will be supported and closely supervised by the Clinical Psychologist who will be leading the project, offering plenty of opportunities to thrive professionally. Our Clinical Health Psychology Service has close links with the regions' D. Clin Psy course.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and empathic skills, as well as be able to work successfully both independently and as part of a team. There will also be opportunities to be involved in service evaluation and further service development.
Funding has been granted by Primary Care for 2 years however it is hoped that sustainable funding will become available.
Applicants must have a recognised undergraduate degree in Psychology and have the Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society. Experience of working with clinical populations and being able to speak Welsh would be beneficial.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
To enhance and support the psychological care of clients of a clinical health psychology service under the supervision of a qualified psychologist; Including community work with GP practices, and ward clients if necessary.
Assessment work may be required including clinical assessments, psychological cognitive assessments and neuropsychological assessments.
Psychological interventions may also be required according to a care plan and specific interventions with individuals and groups within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
Non-clinical work would include assisting with administration, conducting audits, collecting data, statistical analysis, and the development of research projects, teaching and project work.
Participation on NHS initiatives and training to support continued professional development as required.
