Job description
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to work within a Specialist Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (FCAMHS) for a fixed-term contract to the 31st March 2024, three days a week.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Forensic CAMHS is a friendly, innovative and exciting team working with high levels of complexity and risk. You will work alongside experienced Forensic CAMHS professionals including psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, gaining knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who pose a serious risk of harm to others.
This role will offer you the opportunity to observe specialist consultations, assessment and intervention in a forensic setting and become involved in co-facilitating training, intervention and evidence-based risk assessments. There will also be ample opportunities to be involved in quality improvement and research projects and attend forums offering consultation to professionals with regard to harmful sexual behaviour and risk of serious harm.
You will receive regular supervision from the Clinical Psychologists in the team, and will have opportunities to link with other Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists in the trust, as well as access training opportunities offered by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust.
It is essential that candidates are enthusiastic about working with children, young people and their families. We work with young people who pose a serious risk of harm to others who:
- Are under 18 years of age (no minimum age)
- Have mental health difficulties which meet CAMHS criteria
- Shows regular/frequent violence towards others whether injury occurs or not and/or
- Shows fire-setting behaviour and/or
- Shows harmful sexual behaviour
