Job description
We are looking for two dynamic and enthusiastic people to join us as a Psychology Assistants. You must have graduate level registration with the BPS.
The 30-hour post is to work alongside clinical psychologists and other professionals in the Community Learning Disability Team supporting the gathering of information to establish the service user’s eligibility for specialist services. The post holder will be responsible for input into initial assessments for service users and reporting information gathered to the bi-weekly multidisciplinary team meetings
Other clinical roles for both posts may include co-facilitating of groups to develop the emotional literacy and emotional regulation skills of service users; contributing to risk assessment and risk management planning and supporting service users via deliver of specific interventions as specified by the clinical supervisor/qualified clinical psychologist.
The postholder will also be expected to undertake or contribute to specialist assessments, including assessments for the diagnosis of learning disability and dementia. There will also be expectations in terms of data collection, analysis and reporting eg to evaluate the impact of specific interventions and to audit adherence to clinical pathways.

In CLDT the main duties of this position will be to work alongside the clinicians in the team gathering further information relating to people referred into the Community learning disability teams. This information will be to establish the individual has a health need that requires input from a specialist learning disability service and that the individual has a diagnosis of learning disability or there is clear evidence of a learning disability in their developmental history.
This information will be gathered from referrers, person referred, families, carers, other professionals and will require skill in interviewing techniques.
There may be occasions where a formal assessment to establish learning disability is required (WAIS) and the successful candidate will be trained to deliver this under supervision of Clinical psychologist.
