Job description

Are you an aspiring Assistant Psychologist?

If so, we have exciting opportunities for Assistant psychologists working in North West Cumbria. These posts are based within the West Community Treatment Team based in West Cumbria.

As part of the psychology team, you will have the opportunity to work with MDT colleagues and other agencies, to support the psychological wellbeing of service users and their families/carers living in Cumbria. As a psychology team, we offer psychological consultation, psychological assessments, formulation and a range of direct and indirect psychological interventions. We also provide teaching and training to colleagues. There will be opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical work, working within an MDT.

The roles are 12-month fixed term contracts which are ideal for gaining experience in the adult mental health field of psychology. Key aspects of the role will be supporting the process of assessment, formulation and intervention with individuals experiencing complex mental health issues. This may include individual or group-based work alongside qualified psychology colleagues as well as members of the multidisciplinary team. There will be opportunities to support multidisciplinary staff with their psychological understanding of service users and assisting in psychological assessments and interventions. There may also be opportunities for supporting audits or other service development projects within the teams.

The successful candidates will work under the direct supervision of Clinical Psychologists. You will receive regular management and clinical supervision. Experience of working in adult mental health settings would be an advantage.

Applicants must have an honours degree at 2.1 level in Psychology or equivalent, recognised by the British Psychological Society for graduate membership.

We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
