We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join Cambridgeshire Community Paediatric Service. The service offers Neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessments for pre-school and primary school aged children, as well as community care to children and young people with Neuro-disability, across Cambridgeshire.
This vacancy is a 1-year fixed term contract working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday. The service operates from sites in Cambridge (The Peacock Centre, Brookfields Hospital) and Huntingdon (The Oak Tree Centre).
The post holder will need to be able to work as part of a team but also able to work on their own using their initiate. Regular clinical supervision will be provided. We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing the highest standards of care to children, young people and families.

The post holder will be involved in Neurodevelopmental assessments offered by the service, and developing post diagnostic information that can be shared with families. The post holder will support the Clinical Psychologist in the service with the development, delivery and evaluation of group-based interventions for children, young people and families open to the service. There will also be opportunity for the post holder to be involved in the evaluation of the PACT (Paediatric Autism Communication Therapy) project which is currently being piloted within CCS. This will involve liaising with our SALT colleagues, who are delivering the intervention.

The role of the post holder is to support and enhance the emotional health and wellbeing of children, young people and families under the care of The Community Paediatric Service in Cambridgeshire.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under supervision, plans, organises and teaches on a variety of training programmes.
To conduct research projects, audits and service development
To monitor and evaluate the work of the Community Paediatric Service, including clinical interventions, consultations, and training.
To offer individual and group-based interventions for children, young people and their families under the supervision of a Psychologist.
To work independently according to a plan agreed with Psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
To gain a knowledge of local services in order to support signposting and system navigation.
To gain experience of psychological assessments, applying psychological, including neuropsychological, tests, self-report measures, rating scales, with children, young people, family members and others involved in the service users care.
To conduct classroom observations of pupils, to inform assessment and treatment planning.
To assess and manage risk within an appropriate psychological framework.
To plan and prioritise workload, exercising autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients.
To ensure that stakeholders are appropriately consulted about the service they receive and are empowered to express their views in a responsive environment.
Communication
Communicate skilfully, tactfully and sensitively highly complex and highly sensitive information with education staff, children, young people and their families and other professionals.
Contributing to reports received by senior management and commissioners as well as communicating their findings in meetings and presentations.

Research & Development Activity
Undertaking R&D activities under the supervision of responsible Psychologist or others:
To assist in clinically related administration, conduct audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified clinical psychologists in evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
Clinical and Practice Governance
Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regard to the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies.
The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes.
The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.
The post holder must participate in clinical and other audits as required
Provide patients and their families /carers with information on standards they should expect from the team.
Participate in Clinical & Safeguarding supervision on a regular basis.
The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team.
