Job description
This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join our new Intensive Home Support Team within Mental Health Services for Older People in Enfield. The role will involve working closely with colleagues from the Community Mental Health Team for Older People to support service users who are experiencing a deterioration in their mental health or a period of crisis. Much of the work will take place in the community and will include visits to service user's in their own home. All clinical work will be under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist
This is a new permanent role created to help us deliver our plans to transform our community mental health services, as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. The transformation of our community mental health services will lead to truly integrated health and social care for adults in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey who have serious mental illness.
Our transformation plans are supported by £25m in funding and will mean the roll-out over the next three years of multi-disciplinary teams of experts working within the new Primary Care Networks and offering wraparound, holistic care to our service users and wider community.
The postholder will be a psychology graduate (with a 2:1 or higher degree and graduate basis for registration with British Psychological Society) who already has some experience of an NHS Assistant Psychologist role.
We are looking for someone who has skills in working with people experiencing a high level of distress and has a good understanding of risk management and safeguarding processes.
The post will include delivering some 1:1 psychological interventions including anxiety management, behavioural activation and coping strategies.
Candidates for the role would ideally have some prior experience of similar CBT-informed interventions.
The role will require flexibility and a capacity to work responsively in a variety of situations, working closely with colleagues and other agencies involved in our service users' care.
At Barnet, Enfield and Haringey NHS Community and Mental Health Trust our staff and service users have worked closely to create a set of values that make sure people who use our services get the best possible chance of a rapid recovery.
The Trust's values are:
- Compassion
- Respect
- Being Positive
- Working together
