Sheffield City Council

Job description

Job description

The Economy, Skills and Culture Directorate brings together the following services.

Business and Invest Sheffield

  • Economic Strategy
  • Marketing Sheffield
  • Programme Management and Accountable Body
  • Culture and the Employment and Skills Service.

Our work focuses on stimulating economic growth, whilst tackling the twin challenges of climate change and inequality. We work to attract talent, investment, visitors, businesses and students to our city.

The Economic Recovery Fund was launched in March 2021 as a flagship project of the city’s Business Recovery Plan, which aimed to help businesses and district centres come through the Covid-19 pandemic. The Economic Recovery Fund invested £2m across 26 projects, led by collaborations of local businesses, with ideas for how to reinvigorate their high streets, rebuild consumer confidence and encourage people to shop in local Sheffield independents.

The Economic Recovery Fund has been renewed and we are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Assistant Project Officer to support the delivery of this new round of funding. Working as part of a small, supportive and open team you will have the unique opportunity to work with local businesses, Councillors, community leaders as well as a wide range of Council officers to see through all aspects of delivering the Fund.

Please have a look at the Fund’s webpage for examples of what was delivered in Round 1 and what you could be part of as we look to build on our first year of success.

For informal enquiries, please call Sarah Lowi Jones on 0114 223 2368 or email [email protected].

Interviews are scheduled to take place on w/c 27th February.

The practicalities

We recently adopted a hybrid model of working, with approximately 40% of your time based in the office.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled, and LGBTQ+ people; so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. Sheffield City Council are proud members of the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
