First Rail Consultancy comprises of experienced professionals covering every aspect of a transport company, providing support to companies within First Group as well as external transport clients alike.
We are continuing to expand our Project and Programme team to support our pipeline of work and are currently recruiting for two Assistant Project Managers to join the team. If you have experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator or in a Project Support role within business transformation projects, looking for your next permanent opportunity, have a passion to work in Rail and want to further your career within Project Management in a supportive and engaged team then we want to hear from you.
The roles are normally based at our Head Office, The Point, Paddington, London however we are happy to discuss flexible working. Travel to other UK locations will be required dependant on your client assignment.
- Experienced Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator or Project Support within Business transformation projects looking for next challenge.
- Thrives in supporting projects to achieve their objectives/outputs, delivery focused.
- This is not an IT or technical project role, so is therefore suited to individuals with broad project management/delivery skillset
- Ability to collaborate with your client to identify and understand their requirements, adding value on a day-to-day basis.
- Knowledge of Project Management skills; attention to detail; and an ability to build productive relationships and support your project team.
- Can work independently, able to determine priorities and drive forward projects in an enterprising way where no Project Manager assigned.
- Ability to facilitate and engage across various levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work across several projects/assignments in different subject areas as required.
- Builds relationships, expresses ideas confidently and clearly, easily creates a peer network.
- Attention to detail, able to create accessible, traceable, quality documentation, reports and presentations.
- Open to new ways of working, questions existing approaches, views change as an opportunity.
- Plan and implement business transformation projects in accordance with a recognised project methodology.
- Create and maintain quality project documentation for all stages of the project.
- Keep the business fully up to date with relevant project activities through regular reporting.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- Create and maintain a schedule and project timeline.
- Identify critical path activities and associated tasks to ensure a deliverable plan is in place.
- Develop and maintain a risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities (RAIDO) register.
- Manage budget and/or funding provisions.
- Cross-functional collaborative working across all internal/external stakeholders through excellent communication, to successfully deliver project objectives.
- Identification of lessons learned, and their use to drive efficient delivery of future initiatives.
- Experience of Project Management through supporting and/or delivery of business change projects in a variety of different project environments.
- Practical understanding of project controls, processes and governance.
- Experience of utilising project management tools, project reporting and risk management.
- Experience of supporting the creation of and maintenance of key project documentation.
- Ability to challenge both the project and the business in a constructive manner.
- Ability to manage and balance multiple and competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders, up to Executive level.
- A team player, focused on furthering the reputation of First Rail Holdings, and providing flexible support to peers within the organisation.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)
- Holds or is working towards a recognised Project Management qualification.
- Minimum of 8% contribution to your Pension (3% employer and 5% employee)
