An exciting opportunity has arisen at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for an Assistant Project Manager within the Programme Management Office.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and talented individual to support the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of projects and workstreams within the Quality programme, which support the overall strategic and operational development of the Trust.

The post holder will support Divisions/Corporate directorates to ensure work streams are planned, managed effectively, and delivered within agreed timelines.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support the management of projects with an emphasis on delivery, including the development of project plans, ensuring consistency with the Trust’s strategic vision, goals and objectives.
  • Support the management of the project using internal Project Management tools or similar Project Management methodology and ensure through presentations, training and leadership that staff involved in the project, are aware of the standardised methodology being used.
  • Research, investigate and recommend solutions that will improve the efficiency of services with high level analytical and judgemental skills. This may include process reengineering, recommending new technologies or simply realigning operations to meet project cost and quality targets
  • To produce, analyse, interpret and present high quality complex project information on a monthly basis. Preparing non-standard reports as directed by the Director/Deputy Director, Work Stream SRO/Leads, Project Board, PMO leads in relation to the management of projects.
  • Whilst the post holder will be expected to be responsible for their own actions as defined in this job description, he or she must keep the Director of Efficiency, Work Stream SRO/Leads, Project Board, PMO leads aware of any significant events or issues that may have an impact on the delivery of the project. In particular those that affect the timeline of a project, the project costs or the agreed project benefits.
  • The post holder is expected to have above average keyboard skills and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel.
  • The post holder will be expected to deliver presentations associated with projects to a variety of groups made up of a cross section of trust stakeholders, managers and employees who may be affected by the change process.
  • Where the post holder is required to visit clinical areas, the Trust’s policies and rules on the control of infection must be strictly adhered to. This includes ensuring that all members of the Project Team, Project Board and sub-groups abide by the policies when conducting business associated with the project. The post holder may be required to liaise with patients i.e. be involved in patient feedback and patient stories

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of the change management process including end to end project lifecycle
  • Experience of being part of successful multi discipline project teams
  • Experienced in running client workshops/delivering presentations
  • Experience in handling confidential information
Desirable criteria
  • Good level of knowledge of Service Delivery within the NHS
Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths and English
  • A Levels / NVQ III equivalent qualification, preferably in Business and Administration or related subject
  • Good IT skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to ECDL level or equivalent demonstrable experience
