This is an opportunity to work as an Assistant Producer on the new Vernon Kay show on Radio 2 for BBC Audio.
Radio 2 is the UK’s most popular radio station, providing programming across varied musical genres, popular culture and entertainment. The output includes high profile and specialist presenters as well as speech and event production.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Producer will originate and produce excellent content for on air as well as digital content.
This role will contribute creative ideas, as well as bringing the highest quality content production skills, which may involve research, technical operations, audio, digital, online and interactive production activities.
You will also be required to film, edit and help to produce engaging digital content, while working with the wider social and digital team to generate ideas. You will also be working closely with talent and production teams to bring these ideas to life, and uplift the BBC Radio 2 brand on socials. You will be crafting, and optimising social content for social platforms (in particular Instagram, and TikTok).
Are you the right candidate?- You will have experience in creating first class content.
- You will have worked in a broadcast or content production environment and in a live studio environment
- You’ll be familiar with research techniques and sources for the verification of the accuracy of material.
- Experience of writing clear and concise material which may be used for briefs, scripts, or digital platforms.
- You will have a great understanding of digital platforms, and optimising content for social platforms, including editing aspect ratio and dimensions, adding captions, transitions, motion graphics, etc.
- A track record of exciting ideas that travel on social media.
- Experience of working with talent.
- Experience in writing engaging digital copy and publishing social content,
- Experience publishing to social media platforms and producing supporting copy that is optimised for social platforms and formats, in line with the account’s approved style guide and tone of voice.
- You will be well-practised in post-shoot media managing and post-production process.
- Strong video and image editing skills – must be able to work within the Adobe Creative Suite, be a mobile filming expert and use a variety of apps, filters and sound options to create world class, thumb stopping social formats for platforms such as TikTok or Reels or Shorts.
- Strong filming skills with combined lighting and self-shooting experience.
- Experience devising imaginative ways to drive online audiences to our content.
- An awareness of our target social audience.
- Experience of using Meta Business Suite to publish and schedule online content (Desirable).
- DSLR camera experience, setting up and operating kit (Desirable).
- A knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and other compliance policies, or has the desire to glean this knowledge quickly.
- Understanding of the importance of the BBC's values in accuracy and impartiality.
