The Role
Working as part of the trauma and orthopaedic multidisciplinary team, the assistant practitioner will implement occupational therapy treatment programmes for individuals/groups of patients across the orthopaedic and surgical speciality. The post holder will undertake baseline assessments within clearly defined parameters and use specialist technical and practical skills to deliver flexible, patient-centred programmes. They will maintain effective communications with patients, relatives, carers, OT staff, members of the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies to ensure appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met.

What we'll need you to bring
- Formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health/education /social care environment plus short specialist courses relevant to the specific clinical area.
- Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
- Knowledge of the clinical speciality/area process, techniques and/or activities relevant to the client group.
- Ability to apply a range of technical and practical skills.
- Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Time management, planning and organisational skills.
- Working knowledge of basic information technology.
- Ability to work individually or as part of a team
- Ability to learn and develop new skills and maintain a record of learning.
- Must have own car and have a full UK licence
It would be great if you also have
- Have a breadth of therapy experience in a health, education or social care environment
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to change
Contract type

- 25.5 hours
- Please note this is a part-time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Occupational Therapy within the University Hospital Wishaw
The working pattern for this role is 5 out of 7 days
