Job description
What you'll do:
- Work closely with Senior News Editors, Senior Producers, linear production teams, digital and social editors, reporters, Live Editor and newsdesk planners to ensure our coverage is aligned and collaborative.
- Assist the news editor to set SSN news agenda
- Ensure the assignments desk and satellite operations desk are fully briefed on logistics.
- Make key decisions about news stories, reacting to breaking news and managing deployment of resources.
- Along with the news editor will be chasing news angles, identifying potential interviews, sourcing UGC and other social media content.
- Liaise with colleagues at Sky Sports and Sky News.
- Work closely with our broadcast partners around world to ensure relationships are maintained.
- Attend and contribute at SSN editorial and planning meetings.
What you'll bring:
- Outstanding editorial judgement and evidence of journalistic enterprise.
- First class communication skills.
- Demonstrable experience of news editing and editorial decision-making.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- A good knowledge of media law and compliance issues.
- An excellent knowledge of sports from around the world.
