Summary
The Assistant Merchant, is an integral part of our merchandising team, providing vital administrative and operational support. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize our product assortment, conduct market research, improve content, and contribute to product development. Your expertise in ecommerce and product merchandising will be highly valued as you assist in delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to Director of Merchandising & Division President
Essential Responsibilities
- Administrative and Operational Support: Maintain accurate records, files and documentation to product assortment, pricing, and promotions etc.
- Reporting: Generate reports and analyze data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales, inventory, pricing, and product performance. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize merchandising strategies and improve overall performance.
- Market Research: Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential gaps in the market. Stay updated on industry developments, retail changes, customer preferences, and emerging product trends to inform assortment planning and product development decisions.
- Content Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and creative, to enhance product content, such as product descriptions, imagery, and specifications, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compelling presentation across all channels.
- Product Development: Support the product development process by assisting with sample coordination, vendor communication, and assortment planning. Collaborate with vendors to source new products, negotiate pricing and terms, and ensure timely delivery of merchandise.
Job Experience/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Prior experience in retail, or ecommerce, merchandising is preferred.
- Having product knowledge in furniture, wall decor, and lighting categories is a plus.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting, with intermediate Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.
Travel
Travel will be required up to 10% of time for this role.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and to listen. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand; walk; operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment for extended periods of time.
