The Duke in Sunninghill recruiting for an Assistant Manager to assist in the day to day running of this busy, food-led gastro style pub.
We are looking for a enthusiastic individual with a passion for fresh food and excellent service to support the owner with the day to day running and management of the site.
This role offers great opportunity for growth and development into a more senior role as the business grows.
The successful candidate will have had experience in a similar position, managing staff and running shifts. You will be responsible for a smooth operation during service, training & development of your staff, cash handling and closing down of the pub, dealing with customers on all levels, liaising with the kitchen team, assisting in the planning & organisation of events, health hygiene and safety procedures and all back office processes.
Attention to detail, enthusiasm and a desire to achieve the highest of standards will be expected.
There is an opportunity to negotiate a fixed salary. You will be entitled to 28 days holiday. A share of tips (about 5K per year)

Responsibilities and Duties
- Proactively encourage development and motivation for self and others, developing staff
- Support the GM with all back office and administrative duties.
- Contributing to recruitment decisions.
- Management of the health & safety policy and processes.
- Compliance of company control procedures in accordance with established requirements.
- Understanding of relevant H&S legislation and the implications on operation, specifically including HACCP & COSHH
- Awareness of the emergency procedures, full knowledge of the fire manual, ensuring that all staff and supervisors are similarly aware.
Qualifications and Skills
- Hospitality/Travel/Tourism qualification at Diploma level or higher plus relevant experience at management level is preferred but not neccessary
- Passion for hospitality and a desire to work hands-on and with the team during service, and in particular during busiest shifts
- Previous experience developing, implementing and maintaining company standards.
- Good command of the English Language and excellent communication skills
- Exemplary people management skills
- Able to deal with difficult situations and remain professional at all times
- Courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of customer service.
- Standards driven and detail-orientated with the ability to organise and plan ahead.
- Ability to lead, multi-task and make sound decisions in fast-paced environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £11.00-£12.50 per hour
