Be part of something new, we are opening a new Childrens home within Walsall

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated, experienced individual, who has the appropriate skills to be part of this exciting journey. The ideal candidate will need to hold a professional qualification relevant to working with children, which must be at a minimum level three. In addition to this qualification, you must have experience working with children within a social care setting alongside experience of supervising staff.

As this is a new home, the successful candidate will be on board from the beginning and take a lead role in shaping and developing the home, its systems and procedures. This would ideally suit someone looking for a challenge to succeed and an opportunity to progress their career and instil their own vision, plans and ideas, whilst also promoting the ethos and vision of Walsall council.

The Role
Supporting the registered manager you will manage a team that will contribute to the day to day positive outcomes for children and young people across all areas of their development, encouraging children to develop a positive sense of self and individual identity. You will ensure the implementation of sound child care practices and ensure the application of professional standards, guidance and local policy and procedures.

The Ideal candidate
We are looking for somebody who can demonstrate strong leadership in a team that will aspire to deliver the very best care and support that enables children and young people to fulfil their potential.

Do you have the skills we are looking for? Are you restorative and reflective in your approach and always willing to learn?

If this is you, we would love to hear from you.

Additional information:

This is a full time position and will involve working evenings and weekends and sleep in shifts alongside the staff team. You will be expected to undertake on call duties as part of a rota.

Important Information:

Our Residential Homes can accommodate children up to 18 years of age. Due to the nature of this post the Department for Education National Minimum Standards state that the employees must be 4 years older than the oldest resident. Therefore, applicants must be 22 years of age or older.

Walsall Council takes seriously the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children and young people entrusted to our care and it is our expectation that all staff will share this commitment. We will ensure continuous development and improvement of robust recruitment processes and procedures that promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our workforce. Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for working with children and young people.

Note: Applicants appointed to posts that require an enhanced DBS clearance must declare any periods of time that they have lived, studied or worked abroad and be prepared to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) relating to anytime they were overseas.
