£12.83 per hour (PLUS £1 per hour weekend enhancement)

Here at the Wilf Ward Family Trust, we aim to make a difference in the lives of adults by providing quality care and support in every aspect of life. We are a charity based in North-Yorkshire and have specialist services across the region.

We have an exciting new opportunity for the position as an Assistant Manager, based predominately in Thirsk and Sowerby, but also in the Northallerton area. You will be mainly working within a gorgeous house in central Thirsk, supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities and specialist needs.

This new service in Thirsk is aiming to open in the next 4-6 weeks, with the first individual ready to move in. This individual is active and engaging, with a full weekly schedule. As an Assistant Manager, you will be expected to assist this individual in their weekly activities, including going shopping, church, swimming pool/gym, and assisting the gentleman attend his educational courses.

The ideal candidate will be able to do a sleep in at the service, following a day shift. As well as providing front line support the Assistant Manager will have dedicated time each week to focus on leadership and management.

Our other Service in Sowerby houses two individuals, one individual is supported within the home setting, with the occasional trips into the community to do shopping, have a coffee or going for a drive. The other individual would need support accessing the several day services they engage in throughout the week. Both individuals thoroughly enjoy being active in their local community. While the service accommodates both waking nights and day shift support workers, we are currently recruiting for day staff only.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working with Adult Learning Disabilities
  • Be comfortable doing moving and handling and personal care
  • Have minimum 6 months of UK healthcare experience (preferred – as we can offer on the job training)

As this service is in the centre of Thirsk, it is easy to get to from the train station and is therefore commutable from Middlesbrough, Northallerton, York and Leeds; we welcome candidates from these areas, and the surrounding areas.
