Job description

The Team

We are looking for passionate individuals to join our Asset Management Advisory (AMA) team, part of the KPMG Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG). Our group supports government, infrastructure and asset-intensive clients with their most complex challenges. IAG is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading independent financial and business advisers in infrastructure consisting of over 300 professionals.

Our AMA team gets involved with exciting projects across both private and public sector entities but principally those with major capital and infrastructure portfolios in Transport, Power & Utilities, Defence, Oil and Gas. This is a fast-growing area offering many opportunities building upon a global capability in Asset Management where we provide:

  • Operating Model Design and Business Transformation
  • Strategic asset investment planning including business plan support
  • Efficiency programmes covering both capital and operating expenditure
  • Asset and portfolio resilience support including maintenance planning
  • Internal assurance and peer review of key business processes
  • Investor assurance of asset performance and transaction due diligence support

The work is varied, fast-paced, often high-profile and rewarding. We are working with leaders in the public sector and industry partners on issues including Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), resilience of the UK’s utilities sector in the face of climate change and the future structure of the rail sector. We are looking for people with a passion for identifying, creating and delivering transformative solutions which help our public and private clients to deliver some of the largest and most complex infrastructure programmes in the UK, while maintaining delivery of key business and customer outcomes.

The Role
We are seeking Assistant Managers to perform a critical role contributing to client workstreams, supporting business development and helping our team to grow and develop. Key areas you will contribute to the team include:

Project Delivery

  • Develop solutions to problems and collaborate with colleagues at all seniority levels across KPMG and in our client organisations
  • Produce client ready deliverables (slides, documents or spreadsheets) that exceed expectations
  • Take ownership of workstreams within engagements and/or contribute to larger workstreams, working closely with workstream leads
  • Liaise effectively and collaboratively with clients whilst working on engagements and act as an ‘ambassador’ for KPMG

Team Contribution

  • Contribute to the development of the team and foster a collaborative, inclusive and supportive team culture
  • Contribute to business development opportunities by helping with the generation of proposals and bid documents
  • Supporting the development of a continuous learning environment and keeping up to date with technical best practice and developments

The Person

We are seeking a professional who is proactive, able to work at pace and provide quality outputs that add value to our clients. The individual should have the ability to deal with ambiguity, structure their thinking and communicate it effectively to stakeholders.

Applicants need to display the following requirements:

  • Demonstrate high levels of drive, ambition and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bring energy and a motivation to make a real difference to our engagements
  • Be good team players who work with colleagues in a collaborative and inclusive way
  • Be comfortable handling ambiguity and changing client demands
  • Knowledge and understanding of asset management challenges with a focus on Transport, Power & Utilities, Defence, Oil and Gas
  • Assessing and understanding risks at both a business and an asset portfolio level
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • A first class or 2.1 degree in a relevant area
