About us
UCL's Finance Division is part of Professional Services and is divided into several sections, including the financial areas: Central Finance and Systems, School and Professional Services Finance, Insurance, Research Services, Procurement Services and Legal Services.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the Professional Services Finance Business Partnering team at UCL on a fixed term basis to cover a period of maternity leave. With combined budgets in excess of £200m, Professional Services Finance supports a wide range of departments with the planning cycle, helping them to deliver robust, detailed, and accurate financial plans which the business can use to drive strategic and operational success.
PLEASE NOTE: We potentially have a permanent job coming up in the same department. The two roles are very similar, and applicants may be considered for both if they are interested.
About the role
In this job you will form an integral part of the Finance Business Partnering team and be responsible for providing high quality strategic financial information and tailored business partnering support to a portfolio of departments. This will include; assistance with production and preparation of budgets, forecasts and management accounting reports; core involvement in the development of Professional Services Finance Team and its financial modelling and management reporting requirements; supervision of general ledger accounts, including complete ownership of year and period end processes; maintenance and updating of associated UCL records systems and applications; and acting as a key liaison with the Central Finance Division and External Bodies ensuring full compliance with UCL financial regulations.
About you
To do this job you’ll need to be part qualified or actively studying for an accountancy qualification such as ACCA or CIMA and have experience of working in a Finance Business Partnering role within a complex organisation. You will have first hand experience of preparing budgets and forecasts, and providing regular management reporting within a large organisation. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills. You’ll have expertise in delivering financial analysis and producing management information for non-Finance users, demonstrating measurable outcomes, and supporting stakeholders to make data driven decisions. You must have excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills as well as a proven ability to successfully negotiate, and influence business decisions.
