Are you AAT-qualified or part-qualified graduate? If so, Athwal Resourcing is recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant role for a well-known charity going through exciting times. You will report to the Head of Finance. You will be a ‘commercial mind’ accountant looking to be proactive in maintaining effective control over the company’s financial reporting and management information systems to ensure the production of accurate, timely and relevant management information to aid decision-making.
You will be part of a small long-standing finance team in a busy office and be instrumental in accurate management accounts and balance sheet control, as well as analysis of cost centre spending and bank reconciliations.
The main duties of the role will include:
- Accounting: Preparation of Monthly Accounts, Management information and KPIs, including all month-end processes and journal entry, balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis for Senior Management;
- Commercial Support: Investigation monthly variances against budget and forecast and liaison with budget holders in understanding their cost base. Provide commercial support and analysis to the management team by providing finance insight on trends, identifying potential opportunities and financial evaluation of existing and new business opportunities;
- Business Partnering: To provide financial analytical insight at operational meetings to aid decision-making and proactively work with other departments to improve future performance;
- Analytical: Interrogation of vital financial data to drive decision-making/improvements in financial performance and provide meaningful Management Information to support commercial decision-making;
- Day to Day Accounting: This includes daily bank reconciliations, preparation of VAT returns, managing the Credit card, Expense and Petty cash process, and Intercompany balances. Together with raising sales ledger invoices, chasing debt, arranging payment runs for suppliers and resolving customer payment/refund anomalies;
- Budget and forecasting: Assist in the budget and forecasting process across the business;
- Adhoc Duties: Work on resolving any stock issues, provide cover for the Finance Assistant and add value to commercial and analytical projects that the Head of Finance deem necessary as part of the role.
Ideally, the candidate will:
- Be Graduate calibre part qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA, or AAT;
- Have demonstrated hands-on accounts experience and commercial acumen, having worked within a fast-paced environment;
- Preferably have worked within customer-centric retail/service sectors;
- Proactive mindset;
- Have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with key stakeholders, both finance and non-finance;
- Possess good analytical skills and be able to manipulate data within Excel to create meaningful information that the Directors and other stakeholders can understand;

Salary: £28,000-£30,000
