Our successful and experienced Heritage team undertakes highly interesting projects across the UK. Due to the diversity of our experience, we have an unparalleled skill set to offer our clients and we're looking for an additional, knowledgeable Heritage Consultant to extend our offer further.
If you're an experienced Built Heritage Consultant you will know it’s a common misconception that all you do is deal with old buildings - of course, the historic and conservation elements of buildings are paramount to the industry, but this role will give you exposure to so much more! We provide heritage advice to developers and landowners by way of appraisals, statements, planning applications and appeals within residential, commercial, retail and rural sectors. We help to gain planning permission for new offices, retail sites, tall buildings, town- and city-centre mixed-use development and country houses – most recently, we’ve been involved in the planning for the world’s most famous celebrity nightclub, a wartime military airfield and student housing scheme across 8 cities in the UK.
The Heritage teams sits within our 55-strong planning division, offering a wide range of services from our key offices of London, Cambridge, Oxford, Milton Keynes and Norwich. Further to the recent merger with Turnberry Planning in early 2022, our business is growing further across the UK.
What you’ll do:
- Taking job enquires
- Attend site assessments
- Offer strategic and detailed built heritage advice to clients
- Maintain and build client relationships
- Provide input towards the submission of planning applications in cooperation with our planning team
- Interact with planning and conservation officers at local planning authorities and Historic England
- Assist with appeals
- Produce Heritage Statements, Heritage Impact Assessment and related documents required to support planning or Listed Building applications
- Apply commerciality when taking on new projects in relation to profitability and fees
- Set up clients within our business system
- Undertake all necessary work in connection with the IHBC guidance
- Ensure your built heritage policy knowledge is up to date with current legislation
- Work with colleagues to increase knowledge of Planning/Heritage law and practice and seek opportunities to develop and increase exposure to projects
About you:
- Experienced in Built Heritage planning and consultancy
- IHBC (working towards)
- Degree in heritage-related/conservation/design discipline
- IT literate
- Excellent report-writing skills
- Excellent business English
- Good attention to detail
- Full driving licence
