The Assistant Healthcare Support Worker (Theatre) is a valued member of the Perioperative Team supporting and promoting high quality, patient centered, compassionate care in the perioperative setting.
You will carry out a range of activities under the guidance and supervision of the Perioperative Team in accordance with the Trust Values and the competencies outlined for the role.
There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, specific to your needs, Training will be provided to ensure you have the required skills and skill set specific to your area of work. You will also be supported to obtain your care certificate if you do not have this qualification as well as completion of your competencies.

Support the Perioperative Team to implement agreed care plans in accordance with instruction and training received. This includes but is not limited to:
- Ensure the safe transfer of patients to and from the perioperative area
- Assist in the safe moving / positioning of patients, ensuring privacy, dignity and comfort is preserved
- Assist the perioperative team in preparing, promoting, and maintaining the clinical area ensuring it is appropriately resourced to enable the safe and timely delivery of patient care, such as preparing patient trolleys/beds ensuring appropriate clinical equipment is available and in working
- Relay messages to other members of the multidisciplinary team to support the safe delivery of care
- To assistant in the transfer of specimens to Pathology, ensuring documentation is completed correctly.
- Moving and handling of equipment as required to support the delivery of care.
- Checking and changing of gas cylinders in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Management of clinical / non-clinical waste and contaminated instruments sets in accordance with policies.
