Job description
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, ambitious and passionate member of staff to join our very effective and highly valued Student Support team.
Candidates should ideally have experience of working with young people, have excellent communication skills and a good level of education. The ability to build good relationships with students and their parents is essential. A high level of confidentiality will also apply to this role.
The role will involve working closely with the Heads of Year who work to support students with their academic progress, their behaviour for learning, and their pastoral support and wellbeing. The role will also involve liaising with other staff, parents and sometimes external agencies along with administrative duties such as phone calls home, arranging and attending meetings with parents and taking meeting notes when necessary.
We are looking for someone who will be available for 34.17 hours over 5 days per week, term time only (39 weeks) (8:30am to 4:00pm with a 40-minute unpaid lunch break).
The successful candidate will:
- Care deeply and have high ambitions for every one of our students
- Be flexible and adaptable
- Ideally have some experience of working with young people in a school or other setting
- Be organised, efficient and competent with Microsoft Office packages and quick to learn new software (e.g. Arbor, our MIS system).
This post holder will join a team of five Heads of Year and two other Assistant Heads of Year, along with our wider Student Support Team which includes the Welfare Team and Learning Support team. We have an excellent team of associate staff and teachers across the school and our students are a delight to work with.
As part of a multi academy trust there are many opportunities for collaboration and sharing of good practice across the member schools.
We are looking for a candidate with the skills and experience to make a real difference as our school expands to its maximum capacity. We are looking for someone who will be a team player in our high-achieving school where we challenge all students and staff to be the best they can be.
We are an oversubscribed and friendly school with big ambitions and our staff and students are “proud to belong … proud to achieve”. “One parent described the school as having ‘a family approach’, a view mirrored by staff and students during the inspection” (Ofsted January 2023). Our growing school has undergone significant refurbishment over the last two years, with further plans in progress. Planning application is in progress for a state-of-the-art extension to our Drama studio and a new English block and library.
We are an 11-16 Academy of 870 students, growing to our maximum capacity of 900 in September 2023. We are situated in a fantastic location on the outskirts of Haslemere. Haslemere lies in Surrey, on the border with Hampshire and West Sussex and we have excellent road and rail links to neighbouring counties. We are situated just 3 minutes’ drive off the main A3 and we are also fortunate to have a train station in Haslemere on the mainline from Portsmouth to London Waterloo. This makes us very accessible from the South Coast or outer London areas by train or car.

Start Date: ASAP or September 2023
Benefits: Health insurance provided for all staff
