Assistant Garden Centre Manager
Job Description:
As the Assistant Manager your primary responsibility will be to provide management support to the Garden Centre team ensuring the smooth running of the store, with customer service at the forefront of everything you achieve.
This is a varied and challenging role with wide-ranging duties including but are not limited to –:
· Assist the Garden Centre Manager and deputise fully in their absence, including key holder and cash handling responsibilities.
· To help manage, motivate, and support a dedicated team of staff to ensure that sale opportunities and customers experiences are optimised.
· Having a proactive approach in finding ways of improving the garden centre and motivating your staff.
· Assisting with the management of the EPOS system including accurate stock levels and other daily administrative tasks.
· Deliver a high level of merchandising and retail standards, ensuring signage is accurate and seasonal displays are turned round in a timely manner.
· Ensuring all store processes and procedures are followed and deliver follow up training where required.
· Implement inspiring seasonal promotions and events.
· Receiving complaints and resolving problems in a calm and confident manner.
· · Ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures and supporting with HR issues as the need arises.
· Ensuring that all department adhere to all Health & Safety legislation.
· To keep abreast of the latest trends and styles in garden centre retail, as well as being aware of competitor activity.

Key Skills:
As the Assistant Manager, you’ll need to be an experienced retailer with proven leadership qualities. Knowledge of plants and garden centre products are an advantageL TIME
Working in a busy retail environment within the Garden Centre the successful candidate will be highly motivated, approachable and have excellent people skills. You will have a positive “can do” attitude and be a skilled salesperson in order to drive sales through great standards and exemplary customer service.
· Someone with good Retail and Horticultural knowledge.
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
· Experience of managing retail teams in a fast-moving retail environment.
· Strong customer service skills, Dealing with customer complaints and enquiries, providing the best possible outcome.
· Collaborative team player, Motivated, with keen attention to detail.
· Display competence in the day to day operation of the store – including processes and visual merchandising.
· Communicate and action updates, promotions effectively and professionally within teams and departments.
· Organised and adaptable with the ability to prioritise workload.
· Having excellent product knowledge in order to maximise sales and advise and answer customer queries
· IT literacy, understanding of EPOS systems and demonstrate Accuracy and numeracy
· Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
· Professionalism, positivity, patience, resilience and enthusiasm
· Effective verbal and written communication skills
· Well organised and driven to meet multiple deadlines
· Reliable with desire to exceed expectations.
· Ability to use own initiative
