Assistant Finance Business Partner
Salary: From £33,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
Contract: 2 year fixed term
Location: Hybrid - flexibility to work from home or at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol & Harwell preferred)

About the role:
In finance we enable Jisc to achieve its strategic objectives by providing prudent and effective financial compliance, management and advice. We are responsible for maintaining Jisc’s solvency and liquidity. This includes all finance and tax matters, reporting, control, budgeting and forecasting at a group, directorate and service levels. We also manage all procurements across Jisc and assist and support the work of colleagues across Jisc.
In this exciting and varied role you will work with the Financial Reporting team and support the finance business partner with the delivery of effective financial management, control, reporting and advisory support for the directorate transformation programme. The transformation project vision is to create an amazing online experience for our members and customers and to deliver end-to-end automation and efficiency for product delivery and service. This is a great development opportunity if you are looking to take your finance career to the next stage.
We value meeting based interactions and cross team working so there is the requirement to travel our London, Bristol or Harwell office once a week. This will also give you further opportunity for collaboration, experimentation and creativity and to build relationships with the rest of the team and the area of the business unit you are working with.

Responsibilities will include:
Financial planning, budgeting and forecasting:
- Preparation and posting of month end journals including accruals and prepayments
- Working with the finance business partners to produce monthly management reporting for your directorate/s with insightful commentary and variance analysis of the results
- Be pro-actively involved in the finance transformation programme including reporting development, with the aim of driving continuous improvement across the Group
Financial advice and control:
- Working collaboratively with the wider finance business partner team to promote and share business partnering ideas, learnings, experiences and best practice ideas, learnings, experiences and best practice
- Providing advice and support to other areas of the wider finance function and work with them to ensure our reporting is aligned and streamlined and adds value in decision making
- Supporting the finance business partner with financial input into business cases to aid decision making in the business
- Work collaboratively to improve financial capability and understanding across the organisation
Key Skills and Experience:
- Experience in month-end management accounts including accruals & prepayments, variance analysis and commentary preparation
- A self-starter, able to work autonomously and capable of managing internal and external deadlines
- Able to explain financial reports to non-finance specialists
- Part qualified accountant or equivalent (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, ICAI)
