Purpose and Key Objectives

The Assistant Educational Psychologist will work under the direct guidance and supervision of an Educational Psychologist (EP) to support schools, families, children, and young people on an ongoing basis. You will have the opportunity to receive supervision from qualified Educational Psychologists, shadowing experiences and CPD opportunities. We will also encourage you to follow your interests and reflect on your application of psychology in preparation for doctoral training.

Key Responsibilities

Working directly with students, completing support work for psychologists as required including:

· Working alongside a team of Educational Psychologists and other SEND professionals within Mosaic Psychology

· Carrying out 1:1 and small group therapeutic interventions in school (for example, supporting children who are struggling to attend school, emotional literacy and friendship groups)

· Developing and preparing training and project materials (for example, supporting ELSA)

· Delivering small training sessions with school staff and families

· Carrying out observations and direct assessment work with children and young people alongside educational psychologists

· Supporting with Mosaic Psychology administrative duties

· Providing resources and practical support to educational staff, supporting the graduated response in the classroom

· Facilitating solution focused group discussions with school staff

· Gaining experience to work towards training as an Educational Psychologist

Person Specification

Qualifications

· Applicants must have a First-Class Honours Degree or 2:1 Honours Degree in Psychology with Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership

Experience

· Experience in working with children and students, either in schools or other roles.

· Having successfully applied psychology in practice

Skills

· Outstanding interpersonal skills and social awareness

· Warm and engaging manner with the ability to build rapport and empower the people you work with

· Act with integrity and have the ability to build trust within professional relationships

· Able to take responsibility for managing and contributing to own support structure, developing own personal and professional skills

Knowledge

· An accurate and fluent understanding of psychology in education

· An understanding of the national curriculum and school systems
