You’ll be working within a small team to produce an incredibly successful national women’s fortnightly magazine. Yours is a well-established and much-loved title that through its varied and targeted content has a strong connection with its readers. The magazine prides itself on its community focus, trusted advice and warm and friendly tone that resonates with so many of our loyal readers.
This is a hands-on role involving writing, reviewing and editing their publication’s core content and have an agile approach to meeting audience needs across different channels as required.
While the role is supportive, deputising and making editorial decisions in the absence of a senior editor, you will also oversee and take responsibility for your own editorial section (e.g lifestyle section, Specials & One Shots).
- Will act up as Deputy Editor in their absence, making editorial decisions and creating covers
- Key contributor in content planning meetings with key stakeholders/content leads
- Work closely with commercial teams to help develop and write creative editorial/advertorial ideas
- Plan and collaborate with online team helping to produce relevant and targeted affiliate content
- Plan, manage and edit lifestyle section of the mag, with particular focus on Health and Wellbeing, alongside beauty, fashion, homes, cookery and gardening.
- To maintain high standards and quality of content; editing team output to agreed quality (sub-editing, legals, photos ready to pass pages to production team)
- Build relationships with internal and external partners – e.g relationship with content hub/overseas
- Ideation and content creation
- Commissioning where required
- Proof-reading pages prior to publication and ensuring any changes are updated in the base article
- Use planning on Monday.com and utilise new technology Proof-reading pages prior to publication
- Clear briefing to ensure quality and accuracy of content Ensure writers have the capability to write once and the process reduces reworks
- Someone capable of deputising for deputy editor on all levels
- Strong writing, editing and proof-reading skills
- To gain proficiency with Monday, WW Assets and Studio through training that is provided
- Great planners: efficient, diary-driven and organised, with great attention to detail
- To be capable of producing consistent, high-quality core content across the portfolio
- Excellent communication skills: ability to prioritise and multi-task
- Ability to collaborate with a number of different content teams and lead on content re-use
