Job description

Role: Assistant Distiller

Full-time (40hrs), 5 days a week to include 1 day at weekends

A Job like no other!

Dream opportunity to join DropWorks in our infancy as we open the biggest, best equipped and most epic Rum distillery in Europe (and probably most other continents). At our shiny new Distillery in Nottinghamshire you will be making rum of such quality, and on such a scale that it will shake up the British spirits industry and take it to new heights.

Our growth will be rapid, and so will be the opportunities for the person that grabs this role by the metaphorical horns! With regular unique product drops, a distillery like no other, and crazy collaborations from across the country, there will be endless opportunities to learn, develop and hone your skills as a distiller. And who knows, we may even dabble with more than just Rum production…

The assistant distiller will be an important member of the initial team and will work alongside the vastly knowledgeable head distiller as well as the founder, giving you plenty of opportunities to learn and to thrive in the role, getting hands on with our 3 custom made stills - Column, Pot and Double Retort (and if that doesn’t excite you then the job isn’t for you!)

The Candidate

DropWorks is seeking an enthusiastic, fun, self-starter who shares the same vision for establishing a distillery with a reputation defined by the quality of spirit and providing customers with an unforgettable experience. The distillery will be an energetic, vibrant atmosphere, and given the early stage of the business and the small size of the team, everyone is expected to be hands on and have a flexible attitude towards a range of changeable tasks. Of key importance is an understanding that each person on our team is an ambassador for the distillery and all have an equal part to play in establishing our brand.

The successful candidate is likely to have a science-based qualifications to a minimum of A-level or equivalent. Customer service experience in retail or similar would also be advantageous. A positive can-do attitude is essential. There will of course be some rules around health & safety and product quality that can never be compromised, and attention to detail in such matters will be important. Prior brewing and distilling experience is advantageous but not necessary.

Not only will you get unparalleled development in the distilling world, but Dropworks offers you a unique opportunity to be part of establishing the biggest Rum distillery in Europe, and a part of British Rum history. As the business establishes itself there will be no limits on progress, ideas, or entrepreneurial creativity that may help the distillery to grow. Training will be offered to help staff develop with the business.

The Role

The assistant distiller will help the head distiller in the daily production of spirits at the distillery. Once fully trained the responsibilities will include assisting in the following:
