We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Cluster Director of Engineering to support the Cluster Director of Engineering for the Delta Hotels by Marriott Country Club & North West Cluster & Central Cluster.
This assumes engineering responsibility for hotels located in the Country Club & North West Cluster & Central Cluster allowing the role to be based at a variety of locations,
The Role:
As Assistant Cluster Director of Engineering, you will contribute a high level of Engineering/Facilities support, generalist knowledge and expertise for the cluster ensuring that operating consistencies and synergies are delivered and consistent. You will support and contribute to the success of the individual properties, through the development of strong relationships with the Engineering Managers, Hotel Managers and contractors.
You will provide support to the Cluster Director of Engineering to maximize assets, drive guest satisfaction, support business performance and enhance the hotel product. You will provides direction & support to the Engineering Managers to ensure effective delivery of results, execution of initiatives and to maximize talent in their hotels.
You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Provides functional and business expertise and strategic perspective to develop quality services and talent to meet or exceed the needs and expectation of guests and provide a return on investment to the Owners and Marriott.
- Provides an engineering support function in their Cluster hotels by confirming and directing priorities aligned with the engineering discipline. Identifies operational improvements, anticipates challenges, and creates competitive breakthrough strategies for their Cluster hotels. Protects and strengthens Marriott's competitive advantage by advocating and supporting sound business and engineering decision-making. Advises Cluster Hotel based Engineering Leaders, Cluster Team, and coworkers on existing and evolving business and facilities issues; helps enhance the team's engineering-related and business skills.
- Leads initiatives to optimize the technology platforms (i.e. Transcendent, RPM and Energy data management ) processes or talent of the organization to more effectively support the business strategy.
- Takes calculated risks to move the cluster and discipline forward by setting important organizational objectives and goals.
- Defines and leads the execution of engineering responsibilities for the Cluster hotels: engineering operational efficiency, facilities management (i.e. asset protection through Transcendent, regulatory compliance, etc.), sustainability, reducing energy consumption and guest satisfaction.
- Ensures quality and consistency of engineering practices and facilitates rollouts of new initiatives.
- Conducts regular hotel visits including a trip report in a consistent format as agreed with the Cluster Director of Engineering. This will include full property tours; ensuring that Transcendent and RPM is set up to a high quality and fully utilisied; review of POM, HLP and GSS performance with clear plans and actions; review of sustainability performance; capex management and drive compliance with centralized maintenance contracts.
- Holds high performance expectations, willingly owns results, and holds others accountable. Assigns clear accountability and provides both the authority and resources to ensure that individuals deliver desired contributions and results. Monitors implementation to ensure success and accountability for results.
- Defines the processes that enhance communication and sharing of best practices inside and outside their Cluster.
- Builds effective working relationships with internal ( Area, CLS, Corporate resources) and external groups (customers, owners, partners). Develops working relationships in other Areas within the Continental Lodging Services Organization to share innovations and maintain consistency in engineering and facilities throughout the Continent.
- Sells ideas persuasively and influences without direct authority. Negotiates skillfully in tough situations, settles differences, and wins concessions without damaging relationships.
- Stays aware of market trends in engineering and facilities and introduces or recommends new initiatives for the Continent when appropriate.
- Understands the various Disability, Health and Safety, and environmental legislation along with applicable regulations within the UK and their potential impact on the business and ensure that the cluster is consistent in knowledge and delivery.
- Works with the hotels and the above property Finance and Engineering teams to develop robust and high quality Cap 10/BE plans. Leads the hotels in the production of emergency PARs and execution of projects.
- Acts as a support and provides solutions and technical consultation whilst directing and supporting activities of Hotel based Engineering Leaders relating to Asset Protection, Capex, Property Improvement Plans, Performance Reporting, Regulatory Compliance, Energy Opportunities, Guest Satisfaction and Utilisation of Discipline Technology Platforms.
- Fosters a positive and proactive work environment.
- Provides leadership and consistency in energy conservation and environmental stewardship in alignment with the continent energy and environment strategy.
- Provides problem-solving expertise in operational and emergency situations. Takes a senior leadership role in responding to large-scale weather incidents, natural disaster, terrorist activities, etc. as required.
- Defines and leads and facilitates the delivery of sustainable business results against growth and profitability objectives with the cluster hotels.
- Works with the hotels to develop robust Energy Action Plans including signature projects aimed at achieving hotels Energy/CO2 and water goals
- Set the expectations and ensure all hotels have early warning systems and appropriate metrics to identify and manage business and financial risks. Ensures brand standards are adhered to in their Cluster hotels for all Brands.
- Identifies and drives productivity improvement and operational performance as measured by GSS, R&M. Ensures through the teams on property the execution of engineering strategies and monitors property performance against defined expectations.

This role offers and competitive annual salary as well as an annual bonus plan allowing you to earn between 15 and 25% of your salary.
