Job description

To support and energise patient flow through the Trust I am looking to recruit a substantive team of Assistant Clinical Site Managers . You will work alongside the Clinical Site Manager and in conjunction with the capacity coordinators over the 24 hour period with specific focus on the twilight period.

You will be very hands on , providing invaluable visible presence in the emergency department and on the wards. This follows a trial period of a new and exciting staffing model within the Site Team and I am looking forward to welcoming and supporting the right group of candidates.

You will work alongside the Band 8a Clinical Site Manager to oversee and support the achievement of safe and effective patient flow through the organisation. This includes ED safety, quality and performance targets, 18 week patient pathway and RTT Cancer targets.

You will support with achieving steady patient flow, the management of beds of elective and emergency admissions and safe appropriate placement of patients.

You will ensure cross cover of Site, particularly during the busy twilight/evening period and be a visible presence in ED, supporting with flow so that the Clinical Site Manager can keep essential overview of the Trust, ensuring focus on safety issues such as attendance at fire calls.

To initiate appropriate actions in accordance with Trust policies and procedures

To assist in maintaining an accurate bed state, monitoring confirmed and potential discharges and populate spreadsheets as required.

Undertake risk assessments to ensure safe placement of patients into available capacity.

To prepare data for and chair daily operational meetings at OPEL 1 in the absence of the Clinical Site Manager

To co-ordinate the transfer of patients through the inpatient system to allow for sufficient capacity and safe placement of emergency admissions and to assist in the achievement of Trust related targets ( local and national)

To co-ordinate the elective admission process reconciling the demand for optimal activity and meeting of targets balanced with the need to ensure sufficient capacity for emergency admissions.

To be an accessible point of contact for patients, carers and staff

Working to actively resolve barriers to patient flow are escalated and mitigated

Direct liaison and negotiation with ward managers, Matrons and Directorate and Divisional Managers is required.

Responsible out of hours for assisting in escalating incidents relating to any staff patients or visitors excluded from the Trust.

Participate in audit, research and benchmarking activities and analysis of data to inform recommendations for change.

Acts as a senior point of contact alongside the Clinical Site Manager for other trust staff with the responsibility for contacting other on call teams e.g. Estates.

May be required to deputise for the Clinical Site Manger in the case of short notice absence.
