Pick Everard are now recruiting a Civil Engineer Apprentice to join our expanding engineering team in Leicester for our September 2023 intake.

The Civil Engineer Apprenticeship is offered in partnership with local Universities. The program will provide the opportunity for you to gain classroom-based experience, as well as giving you practical experience working with us; therefore allowing you to apply your knowledge to a practical environment. The course would require you to be at a local University one day a week during term time and the remaining four days to be based in our Leicester office.
The course will offer a balance of vocational and theoretical content. You'll develop a wide understanding of civil engineering, particularly focusing on areas such as: geotechnics, materials and structures. Alongside this, you'll develop your knowledge in CAD, building technology, health and safety, hydraulics, the environment, ground engineering and structural engineering.



This role will provide you with the knowledge, qualifications, and valuable support for a career in civil engineering. You will have support to achieve your Chartered status once qualified, with mentors for both IStructE and ICE, and access to regular workshops and seminars tailored to signing off the core objectives as part of the Chartership process.

Our civil engineering discipline delivers for a multitude of schemes to include; Highways, Urban Infrastructure, Water, Environmental and Transportation. You will have the opportunity to work on an array of projects across a variety of sectors to include residential, commercial, leisure and defence.

As an Assistant Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Work as part of the design team to produce drawings utilising 3D design software, based on Engineer's sketches and briefs, for a range of highways/public realm, infrastructure/drainage projects (including residential, education, commercial, MOJ, leisure) and/or infrastructure projects in the regulated Water Sector.
  • Undertake vehicle tracking to determine the viability of design layouts.
  • Carry out project administration tasks, including issuing drawings, arranging site surveys, checking supplier invoices, utility searches, diversity applications.
  • Assist with on-site survey and inspection work when required
  • Responsible for ensuring that they understand and comply with all Health & Safety requirements, practices and procedures.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking student who is open to pursuing a career within Civil Engineering and growing with us as a company.

Key Requirements:

  • 3 x A-Levels or equivalent, preferably in subject areas such as math's/science/geography/design.
