About the Role

The Assistant Cook/Chef must be reliable and fully competent in all aspects of kitchen duties and be able to support the Chef to produce a variety of menus, including catering for special dietary needs, whilst not exceeding the budget.
Shift Pattern: Monday, Tuesday & Saturday or Sunday
Person Specification:
Professional
- The Assistant Cook/Chef will hold an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. They will also show a willingness to participate in continuous improvement and vocational training programmes.
- Have an understanding of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
- Genuine interest in working in a care environment.
- Have an understanding of and empathy with older people.
- Be able to take a lead where needed and also be a team player.
- Required to work in a physically and mentally demanding environment.

Oaklands
Oaklands Residential Home is located in the peaceful North Yorkshire village near Kirk Hammerton and is near to junction 31 of the A1 and the A59 is within easy reach. Local shops, surgery, pharmacy, public house and train station are all within a short walk of the home. Oaklands provides accommodation for 44 residents with 4 double en-suite rooms and 36 single rooms, 22 of which have en-suite facilities. All rooms are fully carpeted and decorated to a high standard. Each room contains a nurse call system, fire detection, bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. A dedicated dementia unit named The Acorn Suite is specifically designed to offer support to those suffering from dementia as well as adults with Mental Heath issues. There is a large well-maintained garden with a large secluded patio and a separate sun lounge for residents' use. There is parking available for up to 16 cars.
