JOB DETAILS
A private Approved Inspector seeks a home-based Assistant Building Inspector to monitor new build residential developments in the vicinity of Bedford, Kettering and Huntingdon. Applicants are required to demonstrate existing new build inspection experience informed by Building Regulations and/or structural warranty criteria. Starting salary of up to £42,000.
The Assistant role would focus on national housebuilder sites, establishing a strong line of communication with construction professionals over the course of the development. Report writing would be undertaken on a working from home basis.
The Assistant Building Inspector role will typically involve:
- Site inspections and surveys on projects that are either completed or under construction
- Ensuring work is completed to a standard which complies with current regulations, technical manuals, and health and safety
- Completing reports and documentation based on site findings
- Frequent liaison with peers and management on technical matters
The successful Assistant Building Inspector should meet the following criteria:
- New build site inspection experience;
- Awareness of structural warranty standards; NHBC/LABC/ similar providers
- Building Regulations knowledge
- HNC/ NVQ Level 4/ equivalent qualification in construction related discipline
- Understanding of general insurance principles
- Defect diagnosis capability
- Good knowledge of relevant construction standards and health & safety legislation
- Full UK driving licence
