Job description
The Assistant Accountant plays a key role at the heart of the University’s Central Finance Division, providing dedicated financial support for the financial operations within the GLAM (Gardens, Libraries and Museums) Division and across its departments.
The Assistant Accountant will also be continually interacting with the GLAM Division, a group of six departments comprising the University’s major collections: the Bodleian Libraries, the four museums – Ashmolean, History of Science, Natural History, and Pitt Rivers – and the Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum. The collections are integral to the delivery of the University’s strategic aims of teaching, research, and widening participation.

About the Role
You will closely support the Divisional Finance Manager and be involved in financial planning, the preparation of financial reports and payroll-related analysis, as well as providing purchase-to-pay and receivables support.
You will also be directly responsible for supporting a number of projects within the Finance Division related to GLAM, and will have the opportunity to support and influence financial reporting to senior management.
You will be based in the Finance Division Office at Hythe Bridge Street as well as on the sites of the GLAM departments you will support, but you may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

About You
You will have experience of working in a complex financial administration function, and be able to demonstrate strong numeracy skills and an ability to grasp financial concepts.
You will have effective verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues. You will enjoy working as part of a team and taking a collaborative approach, but also able to work independently, prioritising your work effectively.
You will be committed to pursuing a professional accountancy qualification.
