Job Type: Permanent (Full time - 35 hours per week)
Location and flexible working: Telford – This is a hybrid role with time spent at the office and at home. Initially you will be required to attend the office 5 days a week in order for you to get the right training and support as you start your new role!
Salary and benefits : Up to £30,000, depending on experience, plus potential 8% bonus up to 16%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more!

The role
You’ll be part of a team that manages operational accounting for both ReAssure (part of Phoenix Group) and third-party operations ensuring accurate financial records are held & reported at all times. Ensuring delivery of services in line with agreed SLA’s, working with Customer Services, IT & other business areas to ensure issues are effectively managed and resolved in agreed timescales across our main operating system, manual processes, manual payments, and general ledger accounting.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll complete complex general ledger reconciliations and supporting accounting. At all times ensuring accounting records are accurate and assets and liabilities reflect the correct position on behalf of ReAssure’s clients.
Skilled in identifying solutions for balance sheet clearance, including root cause analysis and review of end-to-end workflow processing, recommending required changes to cross functional models and short-term clearance. Producing and assessing for improvement of client, business and executive committee MI.
You’ll have direct engagement with clients or functional senior leads, taking the lead in production of policy accounting data fixes for submission to IT, tracking their progress.
When required, deputise for the line manager in on-going BAU services and direct and co-ordinate team deliverables in the attainment of departmental targets or service standard.
Apply your specialist knowledge to problem solve, analyse and resolve queries or short-term challenges, through engagement with stakeholders, responding to issues to a satisfactory completion considering a customer-based approach. At the same time embedding a culture of financial and commercial challenge within and across the department.
What We’re Looking For
Skills:
Communicates effectively, including written and oral presentation, engaging customers and stakeholders as appropriate to the role. Has good organisational skills, with an analytical and methodical approach to work, understanding the importance of prioritisation. Ability to work very well in a team or independently, consulting and coordinating others appropriately in the wider function and business. You’ll have strong analytical skills, with the ability to apply specialist knowledge to improve processes. Confident using operating systems and Microsoft Office products.
Knowledge:
A good understanding of the commercial environment, with knowledge of the operation of General Ledger and policy transaction systems including journal preparation and posting. Knowledge of Life and Pensions financial and regulatory environment would be useful. (not essential)
Experience:
A good level of experience in a finance department (or relevant qualification) and regulatory environment. Experience in implementation of new financial systems and/or processes and system interrogation.
Qualifications:
A qualified or in training member of a CCAB body or equivalent qualification (or relevant experience)

This role is in scope of the transformation of our Reassure business by 2026.
Over the next three years, we’ll be moving our customers to a new technology platform. This means that over time, some roles will be in scope for redundancy or redeployment across the group.
