The Flying High Partnership are looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to work alongside our Director of Business and Finance to support with the financial accounting of our Trust. You will form part of an established central finance team to deliver an effective and high-quality finance service to our schools. Our central team consists of multiple disciplines, including Education, HR, Operations and Finance. You would be joining an exceptional and supportive team of professionals, who are relentless in our pursuit of excellence and our mission to make every day count for every child.
The Flying High Partnership consists of two distinct parts: Flying High Trust and Flying High Futures. Flying High Trust is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) of 31 primary schools across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Nottingham City. Our Flying High family work hard to deliver the best possible opportunities to our children. Through this partnership we are proud of our achievements and are recognised as one of the highest performing MATs in the country. Flying High Futures provides professional learning internally for staff across the Trust, and externally through Department for Education national programmes.
This is a broad and hands-on role, providing excellent opportunities to learn and grow a skillset across the finance function, wider operational and educational landscape of the Trust. The role will require someone with strong accounting and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a resilient and flexible approach to their work. It will involve working closely with the central finance team, the wider central team and budget holders, individual academy leaders, and other relevant external bodies.
Your core duties will include:
- Co-ordination and completion of essential monthly financial accounting routines including payroll journals, inter account transfers, bank reconciliations, control account reconciliations.
- Monthly VAT returns.
- Balance sheet and cashflow reporting.
- Completion of grant and other accounting returns.
- Monitoring and compliance with month end and year end procedures.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about finance and accounting and wants to use their skills to make a real difference by positively impacting the lives of our children and school communities.
- Is an AAT Professional Level 4 or above and/or qualified by experience in a relevant job role
- Has excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Can work effectively with and without direction.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, integrity, and professionalism.
- Is a team player.
- Has an eye for detail.
