A fantastic opportunity has arisen at professional-level role within a defined career development structure. This Permanent full-time role has arisen due to the BCC decarbonisation agenda.
This role is designed to provide you with a thorough induction in the work required to achieve the goals and targets of the Service. Specifically, the role will focus on the Council’s Highways Assets Policy and the Decarbonisation Agenda.
The role will ensure that all aspects of the Council’s assets management policy are completed on time and to standards set by the Department for Transport including the annual submission to the Department of Transport.
The role will require you to have an enthusiastic approach to assisting the authority in meeting its asset management goals whilst embedding carbon reduction in everything we do. You will be required to keep abreast and inform senior officers of the benefits and challenges of a good asset management plan and how it can reduce the carbon footprint of the authority and the city overall.
In addition, you will lead the Highways Group’s work on aligning us with the overall Council’s decarbonisation targets including the achieving of full Carbon neutrality by 2025.
You will join a vibrant and fulfilling working environment and work part of a well gelled team in delivering front line services to colleagues, Council teams, the Public and Elected Members in accordance with the Council’s core values and the key performance indicators for the Highway Asset Team.
What will I be doing?
You will undertake duties to include: reviewing the progress of the Assets Management Plan and policies thus creating new working policy’s for carbon reduction in highways. Leading on the formulation, consultation and implementation of policies and actions. Addressing internal and external enquiries relevant to the Assets and Decarbonisation Policy.
What do I need to have?
Qualifications at Degree or equivalent level in a relevant field plus additional specific professional qualifications and relevant experience in creating policy or working methods through a system of consultation and engagement at all levels.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to respond to enquiries and initiate/reply to correspondence.
