Loganair operates a comprehensive network of scheduled and charter flights around the United Kingdom and Europe. It continues to grow, and it now has around 850 members of staff, in various departments, including, Engineering, Flight Operations, Ground and Customer Services, Safety and Compliance, Commercial, Finance and Operations. We have stations throughout the United Kingdom.
Applications are welcome for an Asset Manager to join the team in our Head Office at Glasgow Airport. There will be some travel expected with the role.
The main purpose of the role is to provide contractual and commercial expertise for the management of Loganair’s fleet, maintenance event claims, high value assets (Engines, APU’s & Landing Gear).
The Asset Manager will be the direct point of contact with suppliers to ensure contractual compliance and optimisation of direct maintenance costs. Interface with Technical Services Engineers/Finance Dept. to provide support in the development of work scopes to control and reduce costs per flight hour/per event. Support negotiations and administer maintenance claims, Repair & Overhaul contracts for Engines, APU’s & Landing Gear as required. Manage the total life cycle costs for lease aircraft and for repair and overhaul of Engines, APUs & Landing Gear from induction to invoice production and closure. Monitor performance against annual repair and overhaul budget.
Key Responsibilities
The main activities that will be carried out by the Asset Manager include the below. As would be expected, the below is not exhaustive and reasonable responsibilities not listed below will be carried out, with training and support provided where required.
- On a routine basis monitor the progress of the Overhaul shop on the repair status of Engines, APUs & Landing Gear, for correct application of work scope specification.
- Resolve issues in the shop to ensure contractual turn times are achieved in order that sufficient serviceable spare levels are maintained to support the operational fleet.
- Manage maintenance events claims against lessors and engine all claims maximised
- Conduct regular audits of any Loganair owned material held at the Overhaul shops.
- Review scrap material following each shop visit and identify any potential OEM or Overhaul Agency Warranty claims.
- Administer on a day-to-day basis the Repair & Overhaul contracts, monitor and maintain contract performance records to ensure all contractual requirements are met and reported to Senior Management.
- Where applicable manage, plan and control the use of materials to minimise shop visit costs whilst ensuring Loganair reliability and performance goals are met.
- Pursue, on behalf of Loganair, significant warranty and support programmes with the OEM’s and contracted Repair Agencies.
- Be cognisant of significant Safety Reports / Incidents and investigations and the resultant corrective actions.
- Be familiar with manufacturer communications including; Service Bulletins, All Operators Wires, Telexes ,Service Letters and In Service Advisories and their commercial implications and impact on product turn time.
- Audit and approve repair invoices ensuring that labour pricing applied corresponds to work scope specification and materials purchased, scrapped material, repair and subcontractor charges are valid and that all handling charges are correct in accordance with the Contract conditions. Identify and follow up any credit actions, excess charging or outstanding warranties to a successful conclusion.
- Support negotiations with outside agencies for Repair and Overhaul contracts to achieve the best technical and commercial terms, demonstrating through effective evaluation of contract proposals the impact of different pricing structures upon shop visit costs and aiming to achieve the lowest cost per hour rate in the industry.
- Identify commercial opportunities for the purchase of new material and negotiate on behalf of Loganair material kit incentives to reduce direct cost of ownership.
- In conjunction with the Technical Services Engineer, define and develop work scoping policies to improve reliability, control and reduce cost of ownership.
- Keep the Head of Department informed of progress against plan at regular meetings and maintain a tracker for all events
- Compile financial budgets for Engines, APU & Landing Gear in conjunction with the Technical Services Engineer and Finance.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with repair shops, and gain detailed working knowledge of individual shop overhaul processes, procedures and support structures.
- Evaluate proposed contract pricing changes within context of the Overhaul Shop contractual performance and make recommendations to Senior Management.
- Evaluate the impact of such changes on the total product cost and budget forecasts.
- Represent Loganair at industry and other OEM, vendor or third party maintenance organisation meetings.
Skills and Knowledge
- Thorough, detailed and analytical in approach to work both financial and technical.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus ability to work in isolation and in unfamiliar surroundings.
- Must be able to build and nurture long term relationships with third party contractors and hold ground when facing difficult situations or conflict whilst representing the Company’s best interests.
- Flexibility is key to role due to amount of time travelling involved and time spent away from home, often working in isolation.
- Strong commercial acumen, contract negotiation and administration skills are essential.
Training and Experience
- Engineering degree/HND in mechanical or aeronautical engineering or suitable documented industry experience with a recognised apprenticeship and qualifications.
- Relevant experience in the aviation industry is necessary, ideally with an MRO or manufacturer with knowledge of shop processes and production procedures.
- Previous exposure and familiarisation with management of overhaul contracts is essential.
