Role Overview

  • Support the delivery of sustainability-related regulatory requirements and firm and client commitments through ESG-related regulatory disclosures and reporting requirements
  • Across all efforts, collaborate closely with deal teams, embedded ESG Business Leads, Alternative Capital Markets & Strategy Group (ACMS), Executive Office Sustainable Finance Group (SFG), Fund & Information Management, Legal and Compliance on ESG-related regulatory disclosures, data collection and reporting requirements

Key Responsibilities :

ESG Regulatory Implementation & Ongoing Delivery:

  • Assess new ESG-oriented rules to determine appropriate implementation processes to ensure Goldman Sachs Asset Management Private Markets is in compliance with ESG regulations and consistently evidencing work appropriately
  • Be a source of technical rule-based knowledge with practical implementation expertise for private markets in relation to SFDR, TCFD, EU Taxonomy, UK Stewardship Code, UNPRI and CSRD among others
  • Stay closely updated on new and proposed ESG regulations and firm requirements that could impact the overall sustainability framework, value-creation plans, ESG data collected from portfolio companies, and general reporting and disclosure obligations
  • Help design due diligence frameworks and investment processes (e.g., Investment Committee memo templates, ongoing monitoring expectations) to ensure delivery of sustainability commitments and compliance with ESG regulations in partnership with ESG Business Leads and other stakeholders.
  • Develop standardized ESG DDQ responses, content for investor sustainability updates and reports, marketing presentations, and other stakeholder engagement activities in collaboration with ACMS
  • Help advise on ESG regulatory-related data collection and reporting requirements in collaboration with the ESG Data Lead and external consultants
  • Support roll-out of ESG regulatory requirements by developing and providing training materials to deal teams, ACMS, and portfolio companies
  • Align with Goldman Sachs Asset Management Public Markets to ensure consistency in rule interpretation and implementation, especially when it comes to legal entity obligations, board engagement and senior management briefings

Sustainability Reporting to Investors and Other Stakeholders:

  • Support production of disclosures for new fund launches and ongoing ESG regulatory reporting requirements for existing funds, working closely with Legal and Compliance and in partnership with ACMS and ESG Business Leads
  • Support development of standardized ESG DDQ responses, content for investor sustainability updates and reports, marketing presentations, and other stakeholder engagement activities in partnership with ACMS
  • Ensure requests for ESG data are coordinated with other data requests from portfolio companies and deal teams for regulatory reporting requirements
  • Help with preparation of annual reporting obligations for specific funds and the broader private markets business while coordinating with the public markets business, Legal and Compliance (e.g., SFDR, TCFD, UNPRI, UK Stewardship Code, etc.)

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and key skills:

  • Collaborative, detail-oriented and organized with strong professional writing and presentation-creation skills
  • Thorough, mature and professional
  • Able to connect various requirements across multiple frameworks and coordinate efficiently with various stakeholders – both internal and external
  • Proven ability to connect with deal and management teams and be a proactive team player in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to excellence, integrity and collaboration is a must
  • Bachelor's Degree with a general preference for concentrations in Law, but also Finance, Business Administration, or Sustainability
  • Experience with key sustainability-related regulations and standards including SFDR, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, UK Stewardship Code, UNPRI, CSRD, SASB, GRI, etc.
  • Experience with ESG KPIs/metrics preferred
  • Experience in Private Equity investing/industry preferred
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word with some awareness of business intelligence software and software tools
