Positions Available: 1

In this role, you will work on our new NMC NE contract which is worth up to an estimated £540m, and will run for eight years with a potential to extend for a further four years. Working with Transport Scotland, Amey will deliver highways maintenance on the motorways and trunk roads, design road safety schemes, and look after bridges and structures. Other contract deliverables include an enhanced winter and incident response service, improvements to customer experience as well as the introduction of new technology for better asset management.

From day one you’ll be given real responsibility, gaining invaluable experience and exposure working alongside our industry experts and across your team. As an Apprentice, you will working alongside the team to deliver the following:

  • Preparation of Statement of Intents
  • Use construction solutions that cause minimum disruption to the travelling public
  • Deliver schemes to annual programme and budgets
  • Ensure that road schemes are delivered to time and budget in accordance with programme and financial commitment
  • Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation

The role

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a nationally recognised qualification via our training partner. Your Apprenticeship typically is fully supported through a combination of regular online lessons, e-learning materials, and access to their team of experts for 1-2-1 advice and support.

Within Amey, you’ll be partnered with a “buddy” to assist you as you settle into your new role within our Asset team, helping answer all those initial questions you may have. Once you’ve settled in, you will be allocated a mentor who will support you throughout your Apprenticeship, helping you develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.

When you complete your Apprenticeship, your development does not stop! You’ll be given lots of opportunities to progress further within Amey as well as being encouraged to gain additional qualifications as you continue your career.

We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:

  • Minimum Qualifications are:
    • Candidates such as school leavers shall be considered on the premise that a minimum of 4 SQA Highers at BBBC (Including Maths) plus Nat 5 English at B.

or

  • Modern Apprenticeship or college qualification in a related discipline (HNC/HND Civil Engineering)

or

  • Foundation Apprenticeship in related discipline plus suitable academic qualifications.

or

  • Entry requirements are for BEng Graduate Apprenticeship (Resident in Scotland).
  • Available to commence employment with Amey in August 2023
  • The commitment and drive to complete your Apprenticeship and final assessment
  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role (Clean)
  • 18 years +(Due to health and safety)
