Siemens is creating its first UK based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire.With an initial contract to assemble nearly 50 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground we are starting to recruit up to 300 skilled technical and support colleagues at in our Manufacturing Facility.
In the near future follow-on work is expected to bring this number of trains into the hundreds, along with an expansion on the site into maintenance and overhaul activities displaying a long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities.
The successful candidates will directly support the Head of Assembly to deliver and have full responsibility for an identified stage of the Rolling Stock Final Assembly activity at our brand new, state of the art Assembly Facility in Goole
Please note that we have the assessment centre for this role planned at Goole, East Riding Yorkshire on 22nd June. Please make sure you will available on said date while applying.
You will make an impact:
- lead a team of Assembly Supervisors who will be the first line leaders for our Assembly Technicians and Testers
- ensure that safety and quality take priority within the workplace whilst creating a Personal Growth and Respectful culture within your teams.
- adept at using metrics and data to monitor the performance of your team, and use route cause analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- provide effective fact-based feedback to the Head of Assembly and wider management team.
- champion and lead this activity within your own area of responsibility and across all areas of the facilities operations with a culture of continuous improvement.
- ensure that your stage or production is working safely, effectively, and efficiently, whilst supporting the teams around you to ensure the Production Plan is achieved or exceeded.
- flexible approach to deliver across the working day, where you have both shift and non-shift team members, where reasonable flexible working patterns may be accommodated.
You will demonstrate:
- Experience of team management with responsibility for Task Management within a Production, Maintenance or Overhaul facility.
- Previously worked within the technical area of a manufacturing or maintenance facility.
- Previous specialisation of one or more, mechanical fitter, electrical fitter, or electrical tester.
- An ability to read, interpret and explain technical drawings
- An understanding of legal specifications, regulations and operating environment within specialisation.
- Experienced in the use of ERP production systems, preferably SAP
It would be beneficial to have:
- Rail industry or automotive manufacturing or maintenance experience
- HND/HNC, IEng or CEng or suitable apprenticeship.
- Lean/Change/CI Management/Experience
- Cross-cultural/cross-border experience
- German Language or a willingness to learn
