Art Therapist - The William Henry Smith School
Part Time Art Psychotherapist, Dramatherapist, Music Therapist or Dance Movement Therapist
Two positions available
The William Henry Smith School is a non-maintained residential special school for boys aged 5-19 experiencing complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges (SEMH). Our students have a breadth of special educational needs, including learning difficulty and disability.
We are a not for profit charitable organisation providing ‘Ofsted Outstanding’ education, therapy and care. Our vision is to ensure opportunities for success are provided through a diverse programme of bespoke individual learning pathways and life skills across the 24 hour curriculum which serve to develop resilience and skills for life-long learning, happiness and an improved quality of life.
The school has a strong ethos and culture, built upon firm foundations that underpins all our work on improving quality of life outcomes for our students and their families, through our strong focus on keyworking, developing relationships with students and partnerships with parents and carers.
‘Pupils’ welfare requirements are addressed by the exceptional quality of the wide-ranging support that they receive. The multi-disciplinary therapeutic team offers pupils specialist support including art, drama and music therapy, alongside targeted occupational and speech and language therapy.
This comprehensive approach is highly effective in both addressing and supporting pupils’ complex social, emotional and mental health needs. (Ofsted 2018).
We are currently seeking two experienced, qualified BAAT / BADTh / BAMT / ADMP and HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist, Dramatherapist, Music Therapist or Dance Movement Psychotherapist to join the well-established, multi-disciplinary therapy team at the William Henry Smith School.
The team provides assessments, long-term individual and group therapy to the school's students who have experienced developmental & complex trauma. The role includes facilitating individual and group therapy, case management, development of support packages, liaison with families, internal staff and external agencies, as well as developing and delivering training.
The team are seeking to expand their dyadic work. The successful candidate will be passionate about their discipline, innovative and committed to continuing professional development.
The ability to work autonomously and yet be able to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team is essential.
Applicants should possess excellent organisational and communication skills.nApplicants should ideally have 2- 5 years post-qualification experience working as Creative Psychotherapist.

The team are currently running face to face psychotherapy sessions within Covid secure practice guidelines. Online video sessions are used when isolation restrictions apply.
