Are you looking for a part-time role in a busy, on campus art shop?
University for the Creative Arts Students’ Union requires someone for an immediate start in their on-campus Art Shop (Epsom) to form part of The Workshop sales assistant team. This is a job share with one other person and it's a term-time position over 34 weeks (September to June). You will have Christmas, Easter and most of the Summer off work.
Job Purpose
Responsible for providing excellent customer service to students and staff at University for the Creative Arts in the Students’ Union on-campus art shop.
Contribute to UCASU’s commercial targets for the year through stock management, upselling and understanding of students’ art supply needs.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for providing excellent customer service to students and staff the University for the Creative Arts in the Students’ Union on-campus art shop
- To ensure that The Workshop provides the highest level of customer service;
- To work alongside your line manager and the Marketing & Comms team to help with visual merchandising in the store and make suggestions of best location of popular products;
- To maintain the highest standards of presentation at all times.
Contribute to UCASU’s commercial targets for the year through stock management, upselling and understanding of students’ art supply needs.
- To undertake regular stock-takes;
- To maximise sales through effective self-management;
- To drive KPIs including footfall and sales;
- To collaborate with your line manager and the Marketing & Comms team to promote The Workshop across the UCA Farnham campus;
- To regularly monitor and review stock costs and retail prices;
- To minimise all areas of loss in order to maximise profitability;

Requirement
QUALIFICATIONS
Good general education, typically to GCSE/A-Level or equivalent - Essential
EXPERIENCE
Experience of having worked in retail - Essential
Experience of working in an art-shop or similar - Desirable
Successful track record of retail management experience with a proven track record of achieving targets, maximising sales and growth - Desirable
Ability to build good relationships with a customer base - Essential
The ability to manage with autonomy - Essential
Evidence of good merchandising skills - Desirable
Personal experience of further education and/or higher education - Desirable
Experience using simple IT systems - Essential
Experience training students or staff - Desirable
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding about art needs for Higher Education students, particularly Fashion - Desirable
Having an interest in art - Desirable
