Job description

Uplift Games, the studio behind the well-received Roblox game, Adopt Me, are looking for a Head of Art to work with their Creative Director in developing the artistic vision for Adopt Me. You’ll also lead a creative team of 8+ talented 2D artists, 3D artists, and animators.

In this role, you will line manage, mentor, and recruit artists. Working directly with both the Creative Co-founder and Game Director, you’ll develop their creative roadmap and strategy and create an outsized impact on many millions of players, whilst operating in a small studio where every person plays a major role.

Your responsibilities…
  • Develop the creative roadmap and strategy in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Line manage and mentor the creative team
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard a diverse and talented team of artists
  • Learn Roblox, understanding the nuances of the platform and Roblox development workflows
  • Champion best practices and technical excellence
  • Introduce smart tools, techniques, processes, and software patterns to minimize inefficiency and maximize impact
  • Work closely with the consumer products approvals team on the development of Adopt Me toys and merchandise
  • Apply your expertise to evolve and develop the Adopt Me style guides and creative vision
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role…
  • 10+ years’ experience in a creative role, with a strong emphasis on games
  • 5 or more years’ experience in a lead or manager role, with a preference for art management
  • Experience building and scaling a creative team
  • Strong proficiency in colour theory, 3D spaces, modelling, 2D art, and animation
  • Experience with the Adobe suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, as well as Maya, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, being an empathetic person able to support and raise up your co-workers
It's a bonus if you have…
  • Prior experience with Roblox, the Roblox Studio IDE, or the platform in general
  • Applied experience with concepting, vis dev for games, or game-like products
  • Experience with creating motion graphics such as After Effects or equivalent
  • Previous experience with UI frameworks and rendering in games
  • Experience with print materials and 2D work for physical use cases
  • Understanding and experience working with products for young audiences
  • Experience working on large scale live service products, particularly games
